Common questions

Pricing FAQ

Is VelvetDAW really free forever?+

Yes. VelvetDAW is free on every tier, with no time limits and no feature reductions over time. We charge for the AI and creative authenticity layers - the DAW itself is a commitment, not a hook.

When does pricing go live?+

Pricing unlocks at commercialisation - which we're targeting for later in 2026. Early access users through The Mindful Dispatch will get advance notice and locked-in rates.

Does AiWen store my session data?+

No. All AiWen session context and pattern memory is stored locally on your machine. Nothing is sent to Miuz servers unless you explicitly push to TMD. You can connect your own API key for third-party inference under the same local-first rules.

What's the difference between Home Producer and Pro?+

Home Producer gives you the full Miuz stack - AiWen, creative record-keeping, and TMD integration. Pro extends this with unlimited session memory, cross-session analysis, early daemon access, and higher EggSuite instance limits - for producers running multiple projects simultaneously or pushing deeper into the AI capabilities.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Yes. Monthly plans cancel end-of-period. Annual plans are non-refundable but you keep access for the full year. Your provenance records and session exports remain yours regardless of plan status.

Can I use my own AI model?+

Yes - AiWen routes to local models first by default. You can connect your own API key from any LLM provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, etc.) or run a local model directly. Your creative context stays on your machine.
